Eaton to Apply New Integrated Systems Engineering Approach to Data Centers
Eaton has announced the launch of xIntegra, a new integrated systems engineering approach to powering performance within a data center at every stage of its lifecycle.
This evolution of energy management capabilities and expertise represents a shift from traditional “mix-and-match” design and procurement of individual elements, to considering a group of intelligent components, acting and working together as a complete system . As a result, xIntegra ensures optimized performance and integrity at the system level in all phases, from design to implementation, operation and retirement.
At the launch of xIntegra, Karina Rigby, President of Critical Systems at Eaton EMEA commented "optimal design, performance and efficiency are key to the commercial success of a data center. To achieve this, we believe that it is necessary that all the elements that make up "The electrical infrastructure of a data center functions as an integral system. This can be achieved through optimization designed at both the component and system levels. That is why we have developed xIntegra."
Systems engineering is a methodical and multidisciplinary approach that serves as a way to create authentic engineering solutions . It connects the fundamental elements of the data center, including hardware, software, and services, with the lifecycle phases of the value chain to facilitate the balance of organizational, cost, and technical interactions in complex systems.
“Eaton's new systems engineering approach focuses on the design, implementation, operation and decommissioning of a fully connected system,” said Neil Potter, business development director, Electrical Systems and Solutions, Eaton . "This strategy prioritizes engagement between suppliers and key stakeholders with the primary goal of reducing or eliminating electrical design risk. This leads to greater reliability, safety and resilience, as well as supporting sustainability and compliance goals. while delivering system-level performance throughout the lifecycle of a data center."
The foundations of Eaton's new systems engineering strategy are analyzed in the whitepaper ' Systems Engineering - Connecting the power train to the value chain from grid to chip ', which shows how traditional thinking is turned on its head by applying a systems engineering approach to data centers to meet current and future demands .
xIntegra allows you to attack systems engineering that takes into account the "big picture" and goes beyond the traditional functional blocks in the design. It's a logical way of thinking when connecting systems, understanding the impact of decisions, and optimizing overall performance.
"With the introduction of xIntegra, Eaton applies its knowledge and experience to bring a new level of insight and align its portfolio with the way operators view the data center environment. Our extensive network of professional engineers is ready to support all the key players in the design, installation, testing, commissioning, measurement and maintenance of the electrical power infrastructure of their data centers" adds Potter.
